I was thinking about his after looking at Kurt's debris pictures. Is any of the wood that is picked up used again? I just wondered what they do with all of that wood that is found. Just wondering????

It is loaded into dump trucks and hauled to the landfill.

Thanks Kurt. I thought maybe some of it could be salvaged to use again. Seems sad that it all ends up in a landfill. Well, at least I know.

I guess it doesn't make sense when you consider that newer lumber is easier to work with, nails would have to be removed, you'd have to pick it up somehow, get it to the job site somehow and then try to make it fit.
Easier to just pick up the phone and probably cheaper.
If I had a gulf front home - my walkover would look like a patchwork, ramshackle, access from hell.

But wouldn't your walkover be unique???? I guess I wasn't thinking about the nails and the sizes, guess it is easier and cheaper just to buy new. Thanks Kurt for the insight....and for all you do!!!!!

Ahh the old days. That happened a lot. Now it's illegal and the treated burning boards are full of poison. Although it happened some a couple of weeks ago with Arlene debris. A lot of the lumber is pretty old and dried out and probably not dangerous to burn.
I may be wrong but in Alabama, they are using some sort of new wood preservative that is non-toxic. We had to use it for our new pier on Lake Martin.
