Most of the time I find that any well received or popular local restaurant can experience their "up days/nights" or "down days/night," and, frankly, during season it has more to do with creating a balance between crowd size and the customer service factor which may or may not be there due to inconsistencies in, and the difficulty in, finding an experienced, engaged work pool.

I try not to review a restaurant if I can't say anything positive about it. I don't see anything wrong with pointing out the strengths and the weaknesses of a restaurant as long as one does it in a constructive and polite manner.

If one has a big problem with a restaurant, one should talk to or PM the manager/owner rather than broadcasting it on SoWal. I really admire those owners like Dave who accept constructive criticism on this message board and respond to the poster. It shows that they really care about providing great food, great service, and an overall positive experience for their patrons.

This year someone asked me on this board how I liked a certain restaurant. I felt as though I had to answer, but I didn't want to be negative since the restaurant had only been open for a few weeks. So I said something about the decor. The person PM'ed me and said, "I take it that you didn't particularly like the food." He read me like a book.

Wild Olives is one of my favorite places on 30A. Just had a most wonderful cheeseburger, served with the most wonderful fries. wonderful fries are becoming rare these days - even on 30A. So, THANK YOU Wild Olives for serving real fries (not those horrible battered fake ones!!!).

I like Wild Olives! Rosemary restaurants are really fabulous, but it seems I went a stretch when I was craving one of them only to arrive on their closed day......I did this for about two or three months. Couldn't keep them straight.
