Hi everyone! My family (kids ages 8, 6 & 6 (twins) are coming to Seagrove in late May/early June. We have been here twice before. First time we stayed in Seaside (prices weren't so high 4 yrs ago) & two summers ago we stayed on Montigo Ave in seagrove.

I have three choices: Summer's Edge, Grove by the Sea & a few house in Seagrove closer to beach. Important to us: if not private pool, then community pool close by which is covered by all choices. Not doing seacrest bc the size of their lagoon pool scares me for trying to keep all kids in view. Secondly, being close to beach is important. Do not want to haul a lot of items. Not worried about crossing 30A because we will be with our kids when crossing. You should see my dirty stare if people don't slow down! Thirdly, would be nice to have other kids around so if we go for a community instead, wondering weather summers edge or grove is better. Lastly (you guys have been so patient), we want to be in bicycle distance (remember small kids so not too far) to eateries etc. I know Grove is close to seaside but wondering if summers edge is too far.

Would love your unbiased opinion. We love visiting seaside & watercolor but it's gotten too busy & too expensive to stay there. After being in your area two years ago & seeing the car jams, we are more enthusiastic about doing bicycles this time around.

Thank you!!!

You can't have it all:) to be close to Seaside, for little ones on bikes, try north of 30a, even north of Grove (the street), west of 395. Which is east of Seaside. Lots of houses with their own pool. Fairly reasonable for the size. Only thing, you would be 'far' from the beach. You could drive to the beach access/parking at Seaside/watercolor or the one on the beach side in Seagrove near the plaza. Both spots have restrooms. Inlet beach has great parking and beach access but it would be quite a drive to Seaside.
We are anxiously awaiting our next trip in June. and the way it's going, my husband will be having to play hookie from school since we have so many snow days here in Louisville. Ellen

Summers Edge is full of families, a great pool, and right off the beach. You can bike to restaurants and shopping but a little far to Seaside. The Grove by the Sea is an easy bike to Seaside but farther to beach.

There are some houses on the lower loop of grove by the sea that might be closer to beach. Are there restaurants etc within an easy walk/bike ride to eastern lake? Do you prefer beach near grove or by eastern lake?

I vote for Summer's Edge. Always families there, and the beach is easy access, not a lot of stairs. It's a short walk to the Eastern Lake outlet and kids always enjoy that. The bluff by Grove is a lot higher, many more steps and a hill up out of the Grove. Biking to the beach with kids and stuff will be more of an expedition there.

Depends on if the kids want to socialize. If they do, I'd say Summer's Edge or Dalton Place next door because they have a shared pool at tons of kids. Very crowded. Just watch out for the traffic on Eastern Lake Road. It's not thru traffic, but people roll down that road too fast IMO. First choice would be house near the beach with a private pool and not having to cross 30A. Last choice would be Grove because you have to cross 30A and it's far from the beach.

Or you might consider Watersound West. It's gated, great pool, great adventures next door at Deer Lake State Park. You need one bike with an attachment for carrying the beach stuff to get to the beach because it's about a four minute bike ride to the beach along the beautiful walkover through Deer Lake State Park. But the kids will see fish and might be lucky enough to see eagles swooping down to catch the fish. We own a home there but we don't rent it because it's our second home with a full pantry, refrigerator, and our clothes. Oh, and great walking paths, so kids are safer there because they can ride on paths instead of the street.

Cassine Garden in Seagrove

If you haven't booked, of your choices, I like Grove-but the haul to the beach, is a haul & steep dune, but nice development-Close for biking, has community pools. What about Cassine Garden, right across from One Seagrove Place? Houses for rent in Cassine are nice. Cassine has 2 pools, tennis court, basketball hoops, kids can ride bikes in Cassine. Right down street from Angelinas Pizza, Whiskey Bravo, Cowgirl Kitchen, seagrove shops & theres a pizza/ice cream place (Nona's) & Cacoons Deli right in front of Cassine. Walk across 30a to one Seagrove Public access (the best access IMO-not steep). Easy bike ride to Seaside. I think Cassine is a great neighborhood. Mix of full time owners & rental homes in Cassine, even a condo bldg at the front entrance, if you prefer to renting a house (but, I believe 2 bedrooms in condo bldg.) enjoy your visit, Seagrove is the best!
