After the earth cooled,it seems that long ago, I ran out of Rutgers University.
I came out with 2 majors, Advertising & Marketing and 2 minors Buss. Adm. & Accounting. Worked on Wall St. in the 80's for several years. Before the market crash of 89, I decided to put my majors to work. I worked for an advertising agency in NYC and enjoyed that very much. The hours were long and unpredictable. It got to a point that I could not plan anything, so I left it all behind. For the past 15yrs I've been an interior designer and retail store owner. Part in Kansas City and now 2yrs in Destin. No matter if you use your degree or not, your past experiences always serve you well.

mr audie and i both use our degrees - unless we are off work - our rule we try not to discuss work issues at home in our off time.

yes, using my degrees (one in history, other in seconday ed) teaching social studies for 21 years now; when I took my 11 year "break" to be a stay at home mom I worked part time nights and weekends for financial reasons. I cooked many dinners that I never ate; hubby and I tag-teamed-he walked in the door, I pointed out dinner waiting on the stove and raced out the door. Good for him; real dad time with two little girls; good for the girls too; good for me too. First part time job was in market research...I know it sounds annoying but I worked for a reputable company (Drackett, maker of Windex, O-Cedar mops, Vanish, Renuzit) Drackett is long gone, but in a way, that job kept my questioning skills sharp. 2nd part time was in a small business college bookstore. I ran the whole thing and pretty much set my hours, a real plus with small children at home.
Now I'm to the point where I dream about another part time job in "retirement". I need to work to at least 62, maybe 65, depending on what happens with health care (I teach in a Catholic school and the retirement is different than for public school teachers) I work to keep fit so I can keep up with the adolescents I teach...can you teach 7th and 8th graders at 65???? I might need to find out.
