Goatfeathers Seafood Market - West 30A

Goatfeathers Seafood Market in Blue Mountain Beach serves as the foundation for Goatfeathers Restaurant upstairs. Both have been a South Walton mainstay since 1988. Owners Pat and Eleanor Miller came up with the name after they heard a funny quote while traveling.

"Goatfeathers are the distractions, sidelines, and deflections that take a man's attention from his own business and keep him from getting ahead.”

The Millers have managed to avoid distractions at the beach-and there are plenty. Namely sunshine, surf, and sand. Few things are more distracting than great seafood, so its no wonder that's what Goatfeathers does best.

Another market on the east end of Scenic 30A in Seagrove Beach rounds out the Goatfeathers family. But it's the west market that cranks out 500 pounds of fish a day to keep up with the demand for the whole operation.

The market carries a great selection of fresh fish and seafood, ranging from Scamp and Amberjack, which rotate seasonally, to the ever popular Grouper, Red Snapper, Mahi Mahi, and Yellowfin Tuna, among others.

Oysters by the dozen, the half bushel and full bushel are there for the taking. Or, you can get them pre-shucked and ready for frying. Florida lobster tails, scallops, fresh lump crab meat and stone crab claws are also on deck. Goatfeathers Market will even steam a pound of shrimp with your favorite seasoning while you wait.

The market also carries a variety of vegetables, spices and prepared foods for pick up, including smoked tuna dip, artichoke and crab dip, and items you'll want on hand for your seafood feast, like their house made remoulade sauce.

Goatfeathers takes their full service approach seriously- even selling oyster knives and giving out free shucking lessons on the spot. And they have sausages for your low country boil, snow crab legs because they're awesome, and whole key lime pies for dessert.

Be sure to visit Goatfeathers Restaurant in Blue Mountain Beach for lunch and dinner for an outstanding taste of the Gulf Coast (open daily). Goatfeathers Restaurant and Seafood Markets are closed during December.
