This is my favorite........I loved Lincoln logs and Tinker toys too.

I loved my doll collection, especially the Madame Alexanders. I kept them carefully arranged in my bookshelves. I would dress the dolls up and vicariously be a bride, a princess, a ballerina, a fashion model. I secretly aspired to be Miss America, and my friends and I would have make-believe talent contests with the dolls and choose which doll was the new Miss America.

When I went away to college, my brother and sister pulled off my dolls' arms and legs, cut their hair, painted their faces black, and tore up their clothes.:pissed:

When I would come stay at Jfunn's house her step sister Katie (who's room I would have to stay in) had all those Madame Alexander dolls and being a girl who never had them- like I said Barbies and Cabbage Patch Kids- I felt like they were watcing me. It scared me so bad...

BR, that is horrible. I was going to ask if you still had them until I read that. Were they jealous of your dolls or what?
I have about 6 dolls that were like MA's (imitations probably) that my mom always ordered from the Sears catalog. I loved looking at then and changing their clothes. I thought they were the most beautiful thing ever. I always thought I'd save them for my daughter someday. She could care less. :sosad:

it's really hard to remember much way back then. but I do remember the following favorite toys/things to do:

Barbie
Doll house
Dolls galore
Monopoly and a zillion board games
Cards - crazy 8's, hearts, old maid, anything!
arts and crafts - like those hook rugs, or crotchet, or needle point.
playing in the woods
riding bikes

watching TV: gilligan, brady bunch, Dark Shadows

oh, and listen to Donny Osmond records. and Michael Jackson.

My sister had Donnie and Marie dolls and the stage to with them. When Marie cut her hair short, I gave Marie a haircut too. My sister was not happy. I still heart Donnie Osmond. I saw him in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and fell in l:love: all over again.

I had his poster hanging on my bedroom wall and dreamt of marrying him...
