I have spent 6 1/2 weeks in Sanibel, FL since last May. I just returned home from trip 4 last Saturday night. I have some horrible shells I found my first trip or so. The last two trips were better. I tossed broken shells, worn shells and shells I had too many of already. Look over these pictures and tell me what you like. I am willing to send you some shells, at no cost to you. Just treat them well. They do not have the water based polyurethane on them yet. If you are using them for your fireplace, do you want some "older" looking shells, or are you wanting them in mint condition?
Let me know and I'd be happy to help you as much as possible!
Typical mounds of shells on a good shelling day.
A mixture of this and that found in December
A handful of my favorites collected in December
My favorite shell to collect... the olive! I have tons of them, but half of them are going to be thrown away as they don't have the points on the tips, or are worn. I have a much better selection now. I have become a shell snob. haha
Another favorite, the lightening whelk. I have a white one that is 12" long. Found it last May within my first 30 minutes in the water. Addicted to shelling ever since.
A nice mixture
Coquinas in a candy dish. Looks real!
