to be frank, i dont give a d&^$ about the creatures. they are completely tearing up my yard. NOW if someone wants to save them they can come and try to capture them and release them somewhere else......:D quote=destindreamin;197252]rita's our resident plant/environment/nature diva and sj, well, sj knows something about everything, particularly gardening, etc.[/quote]

They are simply doing what they do. The critters will eat them if they scurry about on the ground. They are much safer underground, plus their main source of food is underground. They eat plenty of insects, insect larvae, spiders and earthworms -- something like 1/3 of their body weight per day . For that reason alone, I will keep alive the few in my yard. I just pat the grass back down by walking on it. I don't try to get in a competition with them patting down all of their tunnels, but just pat down the ones in my normal path. They are typically find their food source in good looking yards -- plenty of well-fertilized grass which is often watered. You could alway opt for pinestraw rather than grass. Get rid of their food source and you will get rid of the mole(s).;-)

Where is Bobby J's signature line? I need to borrow it again. Twice in one day.

IBD, if you reach any solutions that work, will you tell me about them? The woman I garden for has them in her yard and she's at her wit's end as to how to get rid of them. She hired professionals who laid traps and that was a real pain in the buttkus because every time we worked in the garden we had to watch where we walked so as not to disturb anything. And it didn't even work. There are still tunnels through the rose beds and everywhere else. I think the same about them as you do. All my lovely work in the garden and stupid moles go tunneling around and wreck it. :bang:
