Mr. Pod's dad went into a full-time Alzheimer's care facility today. Sad day for the family.

Oh, pea. So sorry to hear that. I'm in the biz and I know how hard it is for the families. I'll be thinking of you all today.
Well, bless his heart, he was going in over the weekend for a temporary stay while my mother-in-law went out of town. But just last week she'd finally reached the point of realizing she couldn't care for him anymore. So, he went in this weekend with her planning to pick him up yesterday, and her kids said--maybe he should just stay. So, she agreed. So, I guess the real answer is he was OK when he went in--thinking it was for the weekend--but he honestly doesn't really have a concept of temporary vs. permanent, if that makes sense.Oh Percy !!
Thanks, dd. Mr. Pod has had a lot of contact with the CNA there and feels good about the place and the people in charge, but it really is such a hard thing.

That stinks. Our family has been throught that before and will more than likely be going through it again too soon.

Franny, I was gonna say that. It really is. Especially pea, if he's at the point at which you say. I'm glad mr. pea feels good about the cna. That means a lot. Please let me know if I can help...or if you have questions...or need to vent.

Yes I agree ... I'm glad to hear that he seems to be doing well because I would hope that would make it easier on you guys.
Your MIL is very brave, and her family should be commended for encouraging her to help herself. I hope this move is good for everyone in the long run. Though I can't imagine how hard it must be.
I'm sorry to hear that Pea. My sister that is only 6 years older than me was placed in an Alzheimer's facility on Saturday. It is just so sad. I can't even let myself think about it. I hope that the transition for your FIL and the rest of the family will be as painless as possible. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
