You are quite correct. I spent about 20 years in South India, and it is very common to see these 'snake charmers' do their thing. The snakes are all defanged of course, and there are no religious fanatics there that play with poisonous snakes as there are in the US. There are roving families that travel around the state (Karnataka, in my case) with 2 and sometimes 3 generations in tow...and of course their snakes. They break their children early...but this was a public demonstration for shock effect. No harm here to the kid. wouldn't say the same for the snake!!You can clearly see the snakes tongue come out at the end of the video. Definitely not a stitched or closed mouth. Hopefully, as YouTube viewers commented, the snake is defanged.
If this is the beginning of that child's "parental guidance" filled life I shudder to think what's to come.
