Tell her to go for it!! It is hair and will grow out fast. Every 13 year old girl wants to be trendy...and she is beautiful.

I don't know about the fast part but we made an appointment. Last fall she got part of her hair caught in a flat iron and it pulled out a patch of hair from the root! It has take forever for that to grow back in. it's probably about an inch or so long now. The offensive weapon got tossed in the trash!

OUCH!!! That is scary! I will send you a pm with a pic of my daughter's cut. On a whim when she was in Greece, she got her hair which was below her shoulders cut extremely short. While it is a pain growing out, she loved the experience.

Cut the bangs. If she hates them they become side swept bangs in a month or two and then long layers and then after that they'll blending into the rest of her hair. NOTE: this only works on somewhat thin, straight hair. If you have thick curly hair -- forget fringe bangs all together!

OL, that daughter of yours is so beautiful that she could do anything to her hair and she'd still be able to pull it off. If Sam wants bangs, let her do bangs!!!

(They grow faster than you might think anyway, especially in the summer.)

And if she snips, and hates it afterwards, she'll learn a valuable lesson about listening to the wisdom of her mother.

And if she snips, and loves it afterwards, her mother will learn a valuable lesson about her daughter's unerring fashion instincts.

She is beautiful and I think anything would look good on her. She has grayt hair. I have never not had bangs, so I am glad they are "in". :D

I love and appreciate all the advise! Y'all are the best. Of course I think she's beautiful too. I'm due for a change myself. Heck, I might go back to bangs. A big advantage for me would be that they would cover more wrinkles and creases! I'll post some "after" pics after the big event.

I've only read part of this thread because after I saw her pics... wow, she is gorgeous! I mean, how could she go wrong either way? But you're reading this from a girl whose always had bangs of some kind - - all my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way (and my hair has a tendency to frizz in humidity). Bangs can be so forgiving when you're having a bad hair day or look fabulous on a good hair day. I say go for it! They'll grow back.

She'll be perty in any hairstyle.
Maybe she could start with long bangs, and then have them cut them shorter if she likes while her hair is dry at the salon.
Everyone has a certain level of hair shrinkage after it's been dried.

I hope the guys aren't reading this.
