I've seen this before - it's incredibly depressing to see the great things we could be doing in THIS country with that money, not to mention how quickly the numbers are climbing upward!

It is more depressing to me to know what taxpayers could have done with the $$$ had the gov't not pissed it away in the first place. I would be interested to know what the cash value on all the pork projects and totally failed social programs over the years amounts to. Actually, on second thought, I don't. I invite you not to be selective in your outrage.

My outrage is not selective - the 21 MILLION full scholarships to a 4 year college vs. the Iraq war was just what set me off this morning. I am very consistent on my frustration over government waste, politics as usual, and pork!

Have you joined Citizens Against Government Waste yet? Google them and you can navigate their website;you will be shocked. Every month they send out a newsletter with tons of information on wasteful spending and how you can act to oppose it. They also have a 'porker of the month' which is pretty funny and selects a particularly spectacular practitioner of pork and shines a bright light upon him/her/them.

My political outrage for the month (before I opened the immigration can o' worms) is the Frankenstein veto, which allows a governor etc to cross out words and even letters so they can completely rewrite a peice of legislation and then sign it!

They have it in Wisconsin and are trying (for obvious reasons) to get rid of it. I found out about it because it became a goofy story complete w/ a "frankenstein watch: day x" and people showing up to legislative sessions in costume to bring attention to the issue!
