That Dali Lama (sp!) was one smart cookie. I try to live by all his suggestions but #17 is a tough one! Going somewhere new at least once a year? I have a hard time pulling myself away from my two favorite places on earth: Florida and France! I think I could happily spend my life ferrying between home and there, and not feel like I've overdone it.
Try Tuscany and Barcelona.

I feel bad that I was negligent and never answered your question about loving heartache til now but here it goes...better late than never.

Heartache is the absence of love. A marker for a time of happiness after it changes to a different time. Had you never loved you would never feel happiness and had you never changed you would never grow as a person. Life is about learning and growing and change is a crucial part of that. How good would life be if we all ended up with the first person we ever loved.. I for one would be married to a criminal, crackhead, cheat. Appreciate the pain because it is a mirror of the happiness you once felt.

And by the way, from what I read it sounds like she is going easy on you to maintain your friendship (which is over too). She is not interested or you would be together regardless of that bull puckie about rebounding. Your only hope of ever winning this one back is to get over her, then she will come crawling back but by then you will not want her....happens all the time...one of life's cruel ironies...and you gotta love it!

I'd echo SueShore - color me quaint, but my personal experience suggests that when a relationship becomes about who has "control" at any given point of time, the essence of the good stuff is lost and everybody ends up on the loser end of things... If instead the focus is on giving more than one gets as much as possible, the longer term rewards of such an investment seem usually much greater than when alternative tactics are employed... ;-)
That's true OhioBeachBum, but are you 27?
