As a bona fide landscape professional (with a B.A. in Philosopy and a partial master's in music,) I can tell you that the samples you submitted are the fruit and foliage of an apple tree.

I don't know how tasty they are just for eating (some "yard" trees are grainy, sour, etc.) but my Grandmother had four trees in her yard that produced similar-looking apples. She made AMAZING applesauce out of them. Particularly yummy when it was hot. My mom will even make it for me sometimes with Splenda--all the yummy, none of the guilt.

they are about the size of a plum. will they get bigger?

My grandmother's apples were a little bigger than my fist. (I have big hands.) Plum-sized seems a little small, but they may not get much bigger. I certainly wouldn't expect Golden Delicious-sized apples.

The 3rd picture looks like it's full-grown to me.
