I used to believe that myself but have begun to think differently lately. The Dalai Lama makes a persuasive argument that compassion is the true nature of humans, rather than aggression or fear. Part of his argument is the love a mother has for her child, and a child for its mother. It's interesting that you brought up a mother's protectionism.

A mother's love is something almost everyone on the planet is blessed to experience. It's a perfect way to come into this world. Without it we would all be doomed.

Perhaps compassion is our default mode rather than fear. Although I can sure understand why it might be hard for people in modern society to have a different perspective.

Maybe while he's waiting to be reborn, he can spend some time figuring out why Muslims are so prone to violence.

6th - I would like to share my thoughts about your post. I have tried, and will continue to try, to be kind to you just like everyone else that I have contact with in my life. However, I am really saddened by your post.

We can disagree on the cause of this, the root of that, etc and I appreciate the fact that we have different views. This caused me to take a pause... saying that all Muslim's are prone to violence?

I feel that your above statement reduces a complicated situation and points the finger at an entire religion for a few's actions. They are radicals in every religion, and usually they are not the best representation of said religion.

I'm not always a politically correct person. I love odd-ball humor, and sometimes wonder if the world is too PC. That being said, I try my best to avoid generalizations.

:dunno: Were you meaning me or Kurt?
I think he meant the Dalai Lama :dunno:

Maybe they read the Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita....thanks for bringing this back to my attention. I have not read it, but I have read some quotes from the text...this one is one of my favorites:
"It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an immitation of somebody else's life with perfection"

Bhagavad Gita Quote

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Few? James Kopp, Paul Hill and Eric Rudolph represent a few. And they were not vindicated by their holy book.

And yes, I was speaking of the DL. If he has a little extra time in his death nap, maybe he can work on the whole poverty and disease thing that he preaches was caused by actions in a previous life.

Compassion may be the nature of our true self, however history has shown that we have tended to collectively live in fear, either by conditioning or by choice for whatever reason. Granted, this does not mean everyone lives in fear. Perhaps that is the main lesson we are all hear to master? Remaining centered in a space clear of fear while living here on earth? It is a tough lesson to master at times I must admit.

Hello jhbeebe....your words hit home to me. When this thread was first started (thank you Lightworker) I chose LOVE, as I always do. Once I made that statement a large window of events began to happen in my life that put the test to me. I remain centered in a space clear of fear for the time. I am choosing to believe that through the next months of extreme happenings in my life I will remain in that center space.

Loved your post Kurt....The Mother....compassion
