I love my brand new house in Seacrest Beach on 30A, but why do I have to have a PC Beach zip code? If I wanted a PC Beach address I would have moved there!!!

Also, why does the U.S mail recognize that my Seacrest address in zip 32413, but UPS and Fed Ex (for my at home business) won't permit it--they say it is PC Beach?

Help!!!!!!!!!

You get the zip of the post office branch that serves you. Your delivery route originates at a location in the 32413 zip area.

I'm not sure how UPS and FedEx carve their space. If you have to have an SRB zip then you can rent a box at Mailboxes etc. in Seagrove or UPS store at WaterColor Crossing.

If somebody can convince the post office to give the eastern end of SoWal their own zip code - for example, 32461, which is the Rosemary Beach PO, would be a good one - I will be forever grateful. Or at least until I retire.

Seriously, they finally did it for Destin / Miramar Beach...32550 means you are in Walton County.

The mail system is so screwed up here! I've sent mail faster between continents than between Sandestin and Santa Rosa Beach or Seagrove and Rosemary Beach. Easiest solution is to get a mailbox at the Seagrove Mailboxes etc if the zip code is really important to you. I think it's $12 a month for a box.

You don't know how big of a deal the zip code problem is for that end of 30A. It is much bigger than a mailing issue. It also affects home sales and showings. If a property is listed in the MLS with its correct mailing address on that end of the beach, it has the PCB zip code. When people looking for property on the east end of 30A go to a site like Realtor.com and search by zipcode for Santa Rosa Beach (32459), those listings with the PCB zip code will not show up. One would have to search for PCB properties to locate those east end properties. One way to bypass this is to list the property using the real address (like UPS uses), however, the geo mapping software is not a lat/lon based program, so the mapping shows up all messed up on those same sites like Realtor.com. I've been working the MLS Committee to try and find a new and better way of solving this major problem, but thus far, we have only answers that are not readily implementable. The easy answer is using a lat/lon map, like Google Earth, but the vendor that ECAR uses for the MLS doesn't have that ability, YET. It is something that I am pushing for so that these properties on the east end can be easily searched without having to know the intricacies of searching. :bang:

Seacrest Beach
S.J.,

It gets even more complicated than that. We just got a vehicle registration renewal notice from Bay County. We have never had this vehicle registered in Bay County, but whatever database the state uses thinks we're in Bay County because of our zip code. One year our mortgage company paid all of our property taxes to Bay County instead of Walton County. It is a big problem. I also had to ask our realtor to list a house we sold as "Seacrest Beach" instead of "Panama City Beach" as she was going to do orignially.

I've started using 'Seacrest Beach" on all my addresses so we can be distinguished from PCB. Luckily the mailman on this end, Fred, knows everybody so there aren't usually any problems. As long as you have the right zip code, its fine.

Hank, you're going to have problems with UPS and FedEx because their boundaries are different than the post office. Zip code 32413 extends to Deer Lake. The PCB Boundaries of FedEX and UPS go to Camp Creek Lake with the Destin/Ft. Walton boundaries extending to the west side of the lake. You are in no man's land. You will have to work it out with them until the route drivers get to know you. Watersound has a post office and its own zip code. Maybe you could rent a P.O. box there?

Well, the place we rent is in Inlet Beach and has a Seagrove phone exchange and a PC Beach zip code of 32413. Any phone calls to PC Beach are considered long distance, I would imagine Seagrove calls would not be but who knows.
