His name was Dr. Robert Cade. He was a kidney specialist who coincidentally died from kidney disease. We heard him speak at many banquets at UF, talking about how he invented Gatorade to help the UF football team survive football practice in the summer heat. I read somewhere that UF makes a royalty off every bottle of Gatorade that is sold.

He also had a very effeminate voice to the point of being humorous -- always when he started talking, people would giggle.

I just thought it was so odd that he died from kidney disease.

 Dr. Cade. I wonder if they will stop running that great Gatorade commercial about the Swamp with Keith Jackson and Dr. Cade? It's a classic. Gives any good Gator the chills.

I remember a TV interview of a Florida coach who tasted the first few batches of the drink. He said the product tasted "like piss". The folks at Stokely loaded it up with citric acid and sugar, and the rest is history.

Everyone should have a little acid in them. I love how most Gatorade colors are not found in nature. Professor invents product that tastes like pee, and corporate world adds flourescent colors, sugar, sports figure endorsements.....billion dollar business model. Only in America.

Makes me think of Waterworld. That's the one thing I will never forget about that movie. Too bad it was the very first scene. :rotfl: I can't remember anything else about that apopalyptic (sp?) tale.

If money is going to UF with each purchase of Gatorade, I'm switching back to the funny tasting PowerAde products. Go DAWGS! woof, woof.
