Florida State Senator Gary Siplin is pushing forward a bill to force expulsion for students wearing sagging pants.

Siplin is one interesting Senator.

It should be noted that he did recently win the appeal on his felony conviction.

So is this problem worthy of the attention of the Florida State Legislature?

I am no fan of baggy pants. But I have a hard time thinking it is something that should be codified into state law.

Huge waste of time and resources. Not a fan of the look, but legislating fashion is QUITE low on my priority list.

If it's so bad it's a public indecency issue I am sure there are already some blue laws on the books to cover it.

Just what we need -- police officers having to arrest people for wearing pants that don't fit. What is next on the exponentially growing list of gov't control. If genitals and buttocks are being exposed due to baggy pants, there are already laws in place to control that. We don't need more.

There are existing laws on the books regarding noise volume. No need for more of those, either. Just enforce the existing laws.

The schools can make their own dress code. Businesses can adopt something similar to the old "No Shirts No Shoes No Dice." Yet another waste of resources. (Also thinly veiled racism, no?)

How is "no shirt, no shoes, no service" racism?

Or do you mean the low pants? Lots o' white heinies hanging out of those.
