Best Palce for us to visit?

Good evening,
This June 3 of my girl friends and I that have all recently been married or moved away are planning a littl girls trip. We thought Fort Walton area would be great, but none of us have ever been there before. We want something somewhat quiet but with laid back places to go at night, some botique type shops etc. With wonderful beaches. Any suggestions on what part of Fort Walton to visit? Any advise would be great. Thanks so much. Becky Massachusetts

OH Fort Walton isnt where you want to go. SOUTH Walton is about 40 miles to the east and we have all of those things here.

having visited BOTH areas, I would say for your group, you definitely would want to go with SoWal. Ft. Walton is a fine place, and Destin has lots of attractions, but for what you described you're looking for, I'd say SoWal has all that and less traffic and crowds.

fly into ft walton airport (valpariaso) airport code vps this is closest. destin is nice it has more of everything. south walton is more quite, the sandestin resort is right in the middle of the two. ft walton is a distant third as far as where to stay it is not as much of a resort community.

Just to clarify, Fort Walton Beach is a city about 40 miles east of South Walton. South Walton refers to the southern part of Walton County, specifically the beach communities that fall along the 18 or so miles of Highway 30A from east to west.

Fort Walton Beach is not in Walton County ... but Walton County (SoWal) is where you will find Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Grayton Beach, Seagrove, Etc. And yes, SoWal is where you will want to go.

Not sure why that is... it is in OKALOOSA county ,not South Walton.

That should be NO problem now. Just fly into Ft Walton Beach Airport (VPS) drive East on Highway 98 until you see the BIG BLUE SIGNS.
