For those of you who don't know about Flip-Flops, we are very budget minded place. We have burgers and fries for $6.92 to $8.62, fully dressed, with cheese and all. Throw in a drink and you can get a fresh hand pattied burger, fries and drink for under $9. You can also get a Chilidog Fry and Drink under $8 (its a special chilidog). Our regular shrimp po-boy and a fry is $7.49 and its uses a homemade remoulade, with new orleans french bread and louisiana breading on the shrimp... so come check us out. The only way we are able to offer these good prices is because my wife and I work at the place, A LOT. Of course, all the 30-A restaurants near us are great and there pricing is probably where it needs to be based on rents, employees and the high cost of food these days. Have a good one.

You know, I'm sympathetic to our visitors who find restaurant prices high on 30A. I find them high, too. The price of an "upscale" dinner on 30A will buy you top-shelf "fine dining" in most cities.

But our restaurant owners face some challenges, which reflect in the prices they are forced to charge:

-Property prices on 30A are extraordinarily high. That leads to high rents, which drops through to the meal prices.
-Restaurants on 30A are largely locally owned. They don't enjoy the economies of scale that the big chain restaurants have.
-The business here is seasonal, but certain costs of operating a good restaurant don't go away while it's locals-only in early December or mid-February and they serve 3 dinners on a Tusday night.

Thanks to our friends at Angelina's, Fire, Cafe 30A, Borago, D&K, Red Bar, Shades at the Loop, Amore, Smiling Fish, Bud & Alley's and the Taco Bar, Rendezvous, Summer Kitchen, Courtyard Wine and Cheese, Flip Flops Grill, Stinky's, Blue Orleans, Great Southern, Cafe Tango, Seagrove Village Market, Pizza by the Sea, Enzo's, Hurricane Oyster Bar, The Terrace, Hibiscus, Criolla's, Onano, Basmati, Cowgirl Kitchen, Wild Olives, Cocoon's, Old Florida, and anyone else I've forgotten. You're the best.

You forgot Gravel Road...their $15 Wednesday local night is the biggest bargain on 30-A. Alot of the local restaurants are offering early dining menus and 2:1 specials. We are very fortunate to have the choices we have on 30-A.

Fire has been doing a $25.00 special with $4 or $5 glasses of wine.

I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with Angelino's. I have always had good food and service there. I have lived here most of my life and have seen many restaurants come and go. Most of the below average ones don't last. Average or below average "expensive" restaurants usually go under faster than others. People vote with their wallets.
We are a new business here and worked hard to create a nice Coffee House with great espresso and coffee, smoothies, and deli sandwiches. Our breakfast specials like a ham, egg and cheese croissant come with a side of fruit for $4.99. Our most expensive item is $8.99. All our deli sandwiches are made with Boars Head meats and cheeses, come with a deli pickle, and a side of pasta salad,or chips, or a fruit cup.
Like Flip Flops,to keep costs down, my wife and I are there every day. I am usually there from 6 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday. All of us have to contend with high rents, insurance, food cost and scarce labor. All these factors directly impact the cost of your meal.

Doesn't anyone on this thread live in Atlanta. Talk about high prices! I find the prices on 30-A very reasonable compared to ATL. My only complaint is the very expensive muffaletta at Monica Market. Love them but will not pay $54.00 for two whole muffaletta's again. That's a ripoff!

I'm sure you meant Modica Market ;-). They are a little on the pricey side, but usually well worth it.
