I actually got an email yesterday that said that Obama was the Anti-Christ and referenced Revelations.

The scariest thing is that it was sent to me by a FAMILY MEMBER! I love my family but REALLY???

I think it could go down as the most honest, practical, and insightful speech on race ever given and the most important one since "I have a dream."

This guy is a transcendent political figure that will go down in history as one of the most inspirational leaders in history.

He may have no idea how he is going to implement, much less pay for his initiatives, but this country and this world needs a unifying force to lead us through the religious, territorial, and climactic crises that we face around the globe, and the economic fears we have at home.

I might have voted for Hillary or McCain in another year, but to not elect this guy seems like trying to slam the brakes on true, revolutionary progress.

I'm going out on a limb to say this, but I just don't get Obamamania. I do not think his speech addressed the issue of his Pastor saying hateful things about the country. This whole issue is NOT about race (or religion), but Obama has turned it into a racial issue. The issue is that a potential President of the United States should not affiliate himself for over 20 years with a preacher who preaches hate from the pulpit, especially when it it hate for the country that Obama wants to lead. I just don't get it.

What I'm really concerned about is the what I put in bold type above. "He may have no idea how he is going to implement, much less pay for his initiatives, but this country and this world needs a unifying force . . ." What??? To excuse Obama's utter lack of policy is extremely frightening to me.

Can you tell me which one of your preferred candidates in previous elections knew the details behind how they would pay for any/all of their ideas? The Major League Baseball owner? The actor?

What presidents that history has regarded as being great ones knew this ahead of time?

Did you ever interview for a job that you had all the answers for (before you were hired)?

C'mon guys. Be reasonable. I would be more scared if a candidate had all the answers before they were elected. The three most credible words are often- I Don't Know...

I don't have the energy to address your first point except to say-
I completely disagree and think it is absolutely about RACE and RACISM.

Please listen to what Mike Huckabee had to say about this issue when interviewed. Someone posted this earlier and I couldn't have said it better...

I totally agree with you, cckid! I just don't get the Obamamania either. GD is my least favorite word. To say it in church like that, I'm surprised people didn't get up and walk out. I sure would've. Children are listening to that hate message. Sweet Lord!!!

Damn you rich! You already have your compensation.

Damn you who are well-fed! You will know hunger.

Damn you who laugh now! You will weep and grieve.

Damn you when everybody speaks well of you!

These are all words spoken by Jesus in a temple. Do you intend to condemn and disown him as well?

Whenever someone refers to Obama's utter lack of policy, I know they have never picked up The Audacity of Hope or taken a moment to look at his website. I encourage anyone who doubts he has well formed policies to visit the website.

As for how he'd pay for them -- well, I just hope he would be expected to pay for his policies, because the economy was much healthier when Democrats were in control and we practiced pay as you go rather than the borrow from the Chinese and spend policies of the Republicans.

...I would just add: not too many white people have ever spent much time in a Black church...otherwise, they would understand more about the culture and context of this minister...

excellent points punzy.

I feel the reverend's words are strong, but are people trying to understand what may have been behind them? what his point was? obama's loyalty to his friend? no. they just want to use the reverend and his words against Senator Obama. Its really all they have so far. the Obama is a Muslim is only working in the most remote parts of the country.

and the issue has brought on a big discussion about race. its an issue that needs to be discussed now more than ever. why are so many people uncomfortable with it? I think its a major part of our society that needs open dialog now. why is the Reverend issue now about race? because the reverend's words came from a place where racism has caused much sorrow, bitterness, pain. because white people too often refuse to look at race in america. its just not very "pleasant" to think about or discuss, is it?

does anyone care about the achievements of Rev Wright, or what he stood for, or how he helped others in his work? hmmm.. probably not.
