If you really knew me, Tootsie, you would know that, although I may be opinionated, I am in no way, shape or form bullyish, prejudicial or condescending. I'm giggling - you could be the first to ever call me a bully.
If you really, truly feel like that about my posts on this message board, then that is due to the nature of the 'net in general - there is no way, except for these silly 'emoticons', to express the emotion and true sentiment behind the voice. Body language and the associated gesticulation in banter over a heated topic such as this and face to face HUMAN interaction, are what is missing from online conversations and what makes them potentially dangerous. Misinterpretation is the number one cause for disintegration in online dialouge - this is what is happening here.
I am bowing out although I still stand by my original interpretation of what Yippie posted from the commentary of that ignorant man.
:rofl:That is just gross! Okay, maybe some guys would like the video...that would be a completely different forum than Sowal. Get OVER it, Tootsie wouldn't be caught DEAD in a mud pit rumbling with the likes of you or anyone else. Sorry....this just ticked me OFF!

:funn:
We did hear this before every filmstrip at school though all through grade school. This wasn't the version we heard of course but this is a good one because it shows the North and South uniting in this song!
To me this is a sweet song and much more representative of the South! We did hear this before every filmstrip at school though all through grade school. that song!
I sunbathed on those rocks in the middle of the Chattahoochee as a teenager! Thanks for the sweet reminder, Rapunzel.
YouTube - ALABAMA - Song of the south - High quality audio and videoThank you, ASH, for expressing my feelings so well! All right y'all. I'm gonna step into the line of fire to take just a bit of heat off the true locals if I may. Hope this turns out to be funny BTW.
I was born in St. Paul Minnesota. Alright, you found me out. What does that make me? Once I got out of school, this boy ran as far North as the state would allow me as I had it right up to my ears with any sort of populated town. Some may think this betrays me now being way down here in Sowal, but this is exactly where my heart needed to be to feel like I was at home. I don't want a bunch of high rise condos or government welfare systems keeping the local economy alive either. I will pull my weight and kick in for any of my neighbors in need, maybe more than many locals would.
Yes, I am an implant. Other than that crazy Northern accent that I still don't think I have, I doubt you will easily pick me out of a crowd. I'm not interested in standing out. I am interested in blending in. While I understand this will never allow me to ever be labeled a local by a local, I respect who you are, what you represent and only ask that I be allowed to live in peace in what I now call home. I realize that you got here a couple hundred years before I did, but you know what, that makes you an implant too.![]()
This is just an offensive, divisive, and ignorant diatribe. This is the same small-minded self-centered mindset of ?I?ve got mine, now go find yours somewhere else? attitude that is prevalent in EVERY area of the country that is highly desirable for it?s beauty and quality of life.
While I appreciate the rich diversity of our cultural heritages, this is a comparatively young country and frankly IMHO everyone comes from somewhere else. In actuality, we?re all only temporary stewards of whatever it is we think we can claim to own. In terms of location, I?m not so sure a local?s longevity trumps a transplant?s newfound love and enthusiasm for a place. Yes, some transplants may bring a suitcase full of expectations with them, but some locals may be sitting on a trunk of dysfunction.

Yes, it is a sensitive subject, but seeing only the perspective of black Americans, is about as narrow focused as seeing only the southern heritage perspective. Hundreds of thousands of Southern ancestors were killed, flying that flag, so if you think these ancestors aren't offended when people tell them that the Flag is hateful toward black Americans, you have another thing coming.
I know of at least 5 of my ancestors who went off to fight in the War, and never came back. I don't fly the Flag, but I can understand why some people, other than racists or bigots, choose to fly it.
