A Mouse In The House....HELP!

Discovered eveidence of a mouse in my pantry yesterday morning. Little mouse likes dry beans, pasta, trail mix, dried fruit and rice. I cleaned out the pantry of nibbled items, went to Publix and bought mouse traps and loaded trap with organic peanut butter. This morning......more nibbled packages of dry goods and a tripped trap with some of the peanut butter gone!!! Reset the trap.

Is there a more humane way to get a mouse out of the house??? I'd hate to kill it, or splatter it all over my pantry.

I guess you could try one of those traps that are like a tunnel that they can't get out of until you release them outside.

I have seen them at walmart. Better figure out how he got in before you put him back outside or you might find yourself in an unhappy pattern.

There are humane traps that catch the mouse and then you can release it. I'm pretty sure most people think it's crazy, but I prefer not to kill them either. Just google "humane traps". They might even have some at the Ace Hardware. And if you have one mouse, you probably do, or will, have others so the trap will be used again.

You can get really small "Have a Heart" traps, but I'm not sure if you can buy them locally. These are live traps that trip doors and close the mouse inside when he goes in after the bait. Then you take him somewhere FAR AWAY from your house and release him.... perfect opportunity to send someone you don't like a "little friend" :shock: or to get him back to the woods where he belongs. If you're interested in these traps, check with farm supply stores locally or biological supply places online. I'll look and post a link if I find one. Good luck!

These traps are great! They work well, and they are very escape-proof. Wildlife biologists use them regularly to capture and release many types of animals.

It is a mouse, for goodness sake, whack it! My fail-proof trap is an old fashioned trap baited with bacon that is cooked just briefly enough to firm it up. Wrap a piece of the bacon around the bait holder and then secure it with a thread. Mouse will be history, guaranteed

Organic Peanut Butter, no respectable mouse is going to chance his life over anything less then Peter Pan. ;-)
