I know that when a child (even grown ones) call their mom's just to tell them hello or miss you etc,it makes us mom's soo very happy!Cell phone or no cell phone

yes, it is so very nice. It's a wonderful thing to have your teen give a quick call home, especially when they think they don't need you anymore.
Obviously that would make a mom happy! I'm not anti call your mom, the reason I found it weird was that it sounded like the kid was calling when he hadn't been away from home for more than 12 hours!

And your point is?

Now this may cause some annoying flak and I honestly don't mean to but I have a question. I truly do not see how you can find it weird that a teen would call home. Whether it's been 12 hours (not sure where that came from), 2 weeks, or 6 hours. I don't understand.

Scooterbug, you've mentioned that you've had summer jobs as a teen camp counselor. And probably away weeks at a time. Now, I don't know if your parents are still living (I can't assume because I don't know) but didn't you call a parent, just "because" for no reason? Wasn't one of your parents thrilled?

I realize this is just your opinion.

Good lord, you really can't stand it when someone doesn't kowtow to your view of the world, can you? Let it go. Her opinion is different than yours. End of story.
