not me. I either read the whole damn thing or I don't read a word. if I start a book I finish it no matter how horrible it is. even if it is crap, I have to see what happens. I can only think of one book - and it was one of David Sedaris' that I got so grossed out that I put it down mid-way through. and I usually adore his books.
if a friend gives me a book I'll eventually get around to reading it, or it will live in my library, or it will go to another friend.
I thought I was the only one - is this some form of OCD?
The only one I couldn't get through was Lake Wobegon Days. I tried and tried but just couldn't trudge though it.
Which one? I want to read his books, but I don't want to read THAT one!
I can only remember putting down one in the last few years--
Wicked. It was so gratuitously nasty that I stuck it in the back of the closet. (And I've read some nasty books!) There are others that I just couldn't get my brain to wrap around, like
The Brothers Karamazov. I still want to read it, but just don't have the brain power most of the time.
It took me forever to finally read the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I finally figured out that the part I was getting bogged down in was an introduction--I finally skipped it and read right through.
I'm reading children's books again. I bought some hardcover Madeline L'Engle when she died. I'm reading
Many Waters, which is one of the
Wrinkle in Time books. So far so good--I would love to read the rest of her books someday. She has such a thoughtful way of writing.
