Is anybody else close to this dumb?

I'm great with names, but I have to see a person at least three times and usually many more before I can recognize their face. If they change their hairstyle often, I may never know them. I spend 5 to 10 minutes every Sunday doing the puzzle in the funnies where you find the 6 differences!

So, I prefer to think I'm just unobservant, but I think the truth is apparent.

I am the opposite, I am terrible with names, except for some reason, SoWal names. Those I can remember. But then meeting a Sowal person "in-person" I will still call them by their screen name. Is that crazy?

Or trying to figure out pronunciation of all those towns on 75 going south. Is it "mick- ah-nah-pee" or "my-canopy"?

Mi-can-no-pee...and just last week I heard someone who has lived here for 20 years totally butcher "Choctawhatchee."

But, it is sometimes dangerous to learn to read before you hear words pronounced. Growing up, I thought the little birds were called "werns" instead of "wrens." My older brother pronounced tropical weather as "hoo-rick-can-nees."

not at all!!;-) The first time I went to BB's house she told me to talk to the guard at the gate and they would let me in. How embarresed I was when I had to call her and ask her what her last name was..

I just learned yesterday from my Georgia friend that Cairo, Ga. is pronounced like "Karo" syrup, and not like Cairo, Egypt. Of course, I do know how to pronounce Mexia, Tx.
