Wikipedia doesn't dispute that Bilderberg exists. I think there are a lot of conspiracy theorists around it, and some of their ideas are bonkers. But, the conference happens every year with 120 of the most powerful people on the planet attending and discussing globalization.

I just think it's disingenuous for Republicans to try to pretend that they are fighting against globalization when they are active participants. They just pursue it in a way that enriches a few rather than benefits hard working people.

Isn't that the Republican party motto?

I am a little unnerved about about all this new global world order talk. There is just something I don't trust about this guy. I'm not convinced he has our best interests at heart.

Seems to me that we should begin to be interested in this "global world order talk" when China and India own our bonds; our international trade deficits are out of whack, and we're still trying to police (help, keep order in) the entire world -- all the while paying interest (at least for the moment) on an enormous debt, which was incurred while we are trying to "police (help, keep order in)". . . .

Most of us try to keep our bankers happy -- lest we need to borrow some more money from them some day. The U.S. government is in the same position with the countries that buy our bonds. I'm unnerved that we aren't admitting our need to talk about the "global world" (redundant phrase?) and our place in it.

Yes, I know they exist, but acknowledging existance and believing they have the final goal for a New World Order are two different things. The latter moves you into the tin foil hat crowd.

What Republicans are against globalization? Pat Robertson doesn't count. If you can cite a trend, I'd be happy to argue with you, but are speaking of globalization of policy, not more commonly used globalization of markets. I'm all for globalization as 95% of people who use the word intend it, but don't wish to yield US policy to the opinion of Europeans.

Funny, I've always had a much better paycheck, lower taxes, and noticed an overall better economy when a democrat is president. Please note these are only my meager 28 year observations and don't have any links or "experts" to back it up.

I think they have free markets in a lot of third world countries, where the leaders also divert much of the wealth and the resources to cronies who fund their quests for power. Sweden has a pretty decent standard of living.

The success of ideologies depends a lot on the people that put them into practice.
