I'm loading up the iPod for vaca. My library selection is getting a little stale. I've got a lot of different cool music on there, but I want to get a beach mix going, and I've played my old standbys -- Jack Johnson, Jeb Loy Nichols, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole , the Gipsy Kings -- to death. I just downloaded Jason Mraz Waiting for my Rocket (from a few years ago, couldn't stand him then, but now I love it.)

I recently got Counting Crow's new one -- it's real good, but makes me want to sit in a corner and cut myself, soooo depressing.
And Bjork Vespertine, really cool and very relaxing, but not for the beach. I have no interest in the new Coldplay, I'm just over them, I can't hear it without thinking of Gwynneth Paltrow in that sappy ad for Estee Lauder where she's in a field of flowers with a puppy.

What's everyone listening to? I'm surfing iTunes all the time, but I like to get suggestions from other people about artists that I may not cross paths with otherwise.

My iPod sounds like a collection of the stuff your drunk uncle would request at a wedding reception. Heavy on the Paul Anka, Frank Sinatra, Olivia Newton John and Chicago... :D

i just got one of the little 8gb nano's. don't even have a clue how to turn the dang thing on, much less put music on it. maybe i'll figure it out this week :dunno:

How about the new Raconteurs album? They do a real nice cover of Rich Kid Blues.
I've also been enjoying MOFRO's Country Ghetto album.
This is getting a bit esoteric, but I've been listening a lot to a band called Beirut.
Some call their music manouche, you might call it Old World indie. To me, it's great beach or front porch music.

I have a Shuffle that is 15 months old now. It is bright green and sits next to the computer. I am waiting for Miss Kitty to show me how it works.

My favorite thing about the i Pod, is that you can put EVERYTHING on it! I have all of my favorites: earth wind and fire, Chaka Kahn, coldplay, eagles, james taylor, barry manilow......just to name a few. My playlists are set up by mood: fun, rainy day, romance, hard day.....

I think the i Pod is the best invention of my time!
