 Well, I do have my eye on a new Louis purse.[/quote]

I'd stay out of this, bb. :D I do want to thank you for keeping our economy alive!

I am just glad they are OK.

True story...on my last trip to SoFla for my job, the temperature gauge on the SUV I was driving was in the same place that the gas gauge on my Highlander is. Therefore, I'd glance down out of habit and see the temp gauge and think all was well. I was about 30 miles down on the Turnpike and realized "wait a minute. I picked up this vehicle in DeFuniak...no way I still have half a tank..." and then looked to the left and saw the actual gas gauge. :yikes: Of course, I was halfway between service plazas at this point.

The good news is that I was approaching an exit. The bad news was, the place was called Big Daddy Orange...but at least they sold gasoline.

I also hate to admit that I missed the onramp to the Turnpike coming back (there was construction, OK?) and after passing through Yeehaw Junction, kept going, thinking "I'll turn around somewhere up here." If you are on State Road 60 heading west, be advised there NOWHERE to turn around, unless you get off the road and get up close and personal with some Indian River Citrus...

Glad this ended well (for everyone but skunky anyway). :D

More seriously, I think AT&T wireless (formerly Cingular) offers roadside assistance for something like $2/month. You dial #HELP.

Probably not, most other cell services dropped it. It wasn't cost effective.

My mom was always running out of gas, but back in those days, I think our car got close to 9mpg. I bet we would run out of gas about 2-3 times a year. I remember her coasting into gas stations on more than a couple of times -- literally, power off.

I try not to run out, and think I haven't done it yet, but when it does happen to me, I have my Karma bank filled up having stopped for a whole herd of people in SoWal who ran out. I have more free gas cans than you can imagine. Funny, when they run out of gas, they buy a gas can to carry the gas back, but suddenly they don't want the empty gas can, so they give it to me. I guess they learned their lesson and don't intend on running out again.

Not everyone has an open air truck bed. Maybe they don't want a fuel fume filled bomb in their trunk. ;-)

P.S. Say all those F word's three times fast.
