Girls I need some help. I have never really been a short hair girl. But, I think I have got to go to a short do. With all (not all really, but alot) of my hair falling out, it seems I will have shoulder length hair w/ alot of spikes when it grows back. So, I am thinking of going short to compensate. Any good ideas...?

Here is what I am thinking.

I just recently saw a pic of Katie Holmes with an adorably short haircut. I'm actually considering getting mine cut after seeing how great hers looks.

I've always loved that soap actresses (her name eludes me right now) haircuts.
Your hair coming in spikey will give an appearance of fullness, so that is not a bad thing. The only thing that would concern me with that cut is the top is still relatively long. If you're hair is anything like mine when stressed, the longer it is on top, the more stress on the hair which could cause breakage.

PV- I adore that Katie Holmes cut. It's very sexy and looks easy to maintain. All big pluses in my book. Dunelover, if your hair is coming in spikey, that KH cut looks like a winning proposition, too.

Speak with your hairdresser also DL. Based on your hair type, I am sure she could suggest some great cuts as well that as your hair changes as your health improves, because it will, you can change the style to longer as it grows and gets healthier. Good luck. You're in my thoughts.

I'm assuming you're talking about chemo? Ton's of nice hats out there, can be a lot easier than a wig or dealing with styling on those days when you're just too exhausted to deal with it. Here's hopes and prayers you won't have those days.

Being that your hair is fairly long now, I would not go too radically short just yet. The picture you posted is cute, but not quite sophisticated enough for you. I think you will look GREAT with shorter hair!
I agree with Mango as well...consult with a hair stylist, see what she/he suggests.

Definitely talk to your hairstylist - maybe they can really work layers to blend it in.

Mom cut her hair short (shorter than Katie's) after decades of long hair and while she loves it, it get really messed up/in her face during sports or wearing sun hats.

Most people I know had their hair totally change texture/color so a whole new category of styles may be in your future!

Hi dunelover,

I've always worn my hair short or medium short but I'm tired of my current style so I bought the best magazine recently for new ideas. I found at least 8 cuts I'm considering. Try to find this magazine for ideas. (just be prepared to pay $9.99 for this magazine!)

hi dunelover. I think you will enjoy going short - just so practical, and can be really cute. I just got mine whacked off today after 3 years of growing out. what was I thinking? and, like Johnrudy, I really enjoy the short cuts - you can get a little different cut each time.

let us know what you decide!
