I've always loved that soap actresses (her name eludes me right now) haircuts.
Your hair coming in spikey will give an appearance of fullness, so that is not a bad thing. The only thing that would concern me with that cut is the top is still relatively long. If you're hair is anything like mine when stressed, the longer it is on top, the more stress on the hair which could cause breakage.
PV- I adore that Katie Holmes cut. It's very sexy and looks easy to maintain. All big pluses in my book. Dunelover, if your hair is coming in spikey, that KH cut looks like a winning proposition, too.
Speak with your hairdresser also DL. Based on your hair type, I am sure she could suggest some great cuts as well that as your hair changes as your health improves, because it will, you can change the style to longer as it grows and gets healthier. Good luck. You're in my thoughts.
