I think a letter to Shear Genius, a Bravo tv show about competing hairstylists would be a grayt idea...they may end up using your question as an episode. They have a panel of competing hairstylists. They once did a show using surfers and gave them new cuts but they had to work for a surfer lifestyle. So the stylists must always keep in mind the style that would best fit the needs of their client. This may be of help to you and a lot of others who are having the same questions.

KDW, even with short hair you will still be slave to your hair. Short hair will require lots of different products, different brushes, etc. Having never had long hair myself, I always thought long hair would be easier. If you're having a bad hair day, you can just pull it back with clips or scrunchies or something like that, correct?

JR - I have to say short hair is so much easier for me. of course we all have our different ways of "doing" our hair whether long or short. this morning, with my new short do, it took me a fraction of the time to dry my hair, with a little gel, hardly used a brush, a tiny bit of texturizing cream, a dab of spray. and done. so much quicker and easier all the way around. I can't wait to go a little shorter next time.

dunelover, after going through this with my wife, I truly know your pain. I know your looks are extremely important to you but just remember, your beauty comes from the inside. You will be in my prayers everyday. My wife's case was very extreme and she lost her battle after two years. I pray that every morning you wake up with a wonderful smile on your face and each morning when you look in the mirror and see that smile you will think you are the most beautiful women in the world. A smile will also give you the strength you need to make it through the days ahead.
That is so touching, thank you. Of course anything brings me to tears nowadays, but your post certainly did, thank you.

I guess I don't have bravo, havn't seen it, but I will have to check it out, although not sure I would want to wait too long.

Thanks tootsie, I think it is probably easier too, and just the drying part would be great, it would even be good if I could just fingertip style daily and do the major styling for going out.

I have mentioned it to my kids, and I have one that is so hesitant, I guess it is all the stress of how different our lives are now. I said when I went into this that I would try all kinds of hairstyles on the way to short if I had too, Idon't know why I am so hesitant. I guess it just shows one more way cancer has effected my life, but then again maybe it would just be cuter!!!!

Maybe shorter but not drastically shorter would be best for now. You can always go shorter the next cut, after you adjust. Kinda hard to do the reverse.

I am sure either way it will look great. I love Jennifer Anniston's.

hey darlene, do it. with each new haircut go a little shorter, and you will get to enjoy a new length/style each time, and once you get really short you'll be ready for it and able to really enjoy it. my cut from yesterday is pretty short but not nearly as short as I am planning next time. I was going for the katie holmes cut pictured above but it didn't turn out quite as expected. but its okay. looking forward to next cut.

dunelover - that katie cut is absolutely adorable.

The appointment is made.

Yes, that is true and it was nice to be able to put it up or in a ponytail when I didn't feel like "doing it", but the worst part is it the time it takes to blow dry it. It took me about 9 minutes just to blow dry it, then I had to fix it. Now I am down to about 5 minutes to dry, I want to be at 2 minutes. I have to work everyday and every little minute I can save means I can sleep a minute or two more. 4:30 Monday and it is gone.

I can totally see you in short hair! Rock it Kathy!

Toots is going shorter, I am giving longer a whirl (or at least until it drives me nuts). SJ mentioned my haircut last night- I thought it was looking longer.... oh well!

I am, I might hate it, but I don't think so. I have always wanted to do it, so for my 47th b'day, it is a present to myself.

Jdarg, your hair is fabulous, I can't imagine it longer, but I am sure it looks great either way.
