Okay, after NoHall posted something about a quadruple name, something I have been cursed with from adoption onwards.... I put in my full name, 2 middles, maiden & married....

Did I ever tell you about the time my sister took her black boyfriend to the awards dinner when she got her Daughter's of the Confederacy scholarship? I missed it, but I'm sure those were some purse lipped blue hairs.

That would have been a funny sight. A little girl in Z's class today said to me, "You're not like the rest of your family.... You have blue eyes." I said, "Yes, that's right." We talked a little while longer. Then she said, "You're also not like them because you are white and they are black." I said, "Yes, that's true, but they also have really good tans right now from being at the pool every day this summer. Z will get a bit lighter." She was totally fine with what I said and we just kept talking about other things. I loved it that it was so NORMAL and INFORMAL.

It is funny that coming from a small child it is innocent and funny and coming from an adult it would be rude and insulting.
