Swiffer, smiffer! I just got my new Swiffer, set it up according to directions, put the pad on, added the 4 batteries, and stuck the cleaning fluid into recepticle.....

OK..what in tf is the deal??? It took one whole bottle to do all my floors (and you have to keep buying these bottle of cleaner I guess--can you say "rip off"), 2 pads, that just collected dirt only on the edges. Then, instead of the cleaning liquid spurting out with a fan shape jet like on the TV commercials, it just starts dribbling out like some old guy with a bladder problem!!

I miss my mop, the "I-just-cleaned-the-house" smell of Pine Sol or Fabuloso, seeing all the dirt ( and BEACH sand) that got squeezed out of the mop..oooouuu..yes!

Am I missing something--Anybody really like these things!!!!

I have one and don't love it. The cleaning fluid that is for wood floors makes mine dull so I don't use it. Make sure you have the pad on the right side, if you do you will see all the dirt on the pad. Mine does do the sweeping motion though. It sounds like you might have gotten a dud. I would take it back if you don't like it. I do like the way mine cleans my vinyl floor though. I know what you mean about the smell of Pine-Sol, and Fabuloso. You know what I do with the Fabuloso? I like to pour it in a bow and set it out on my counter. It makes the whole house smell good, like I just cleaned it. When I haven't. :D

Take that sucker back if you don't like it!!!!!

I don't have the fancy Swiffer mop that takes batteries but I do have the basic one that uses the wet mop pads. It actually works pretty good. The pole is marginal though. You have to be very careful not to go bonkers with your cleaning technique. I think the pole would snap if you are too vigorous.

Lose the swiffer. Why do all that cleaning when you can just put a bowl of fabuloso on the counter. Kathy, I think you are brillant!!!

I don't like swiffers either....i like the bucket and the rag...on my knees with the murphys oil soap...otherwise my hardwoods don't look like I want them to.

How did I get so lucky? My Swiffer Jet is several years old; maybe they made them better back then. It does a great job on my oak floors. But I also vacuum first, then go over them with a dust mop and Pledge afterward...:dunno:

I don't like the Swiffer for tile, though. It doesn't get the grout like I want. Then again, neither does a mop. My grout requires bleach and a brush.

My little Swiffer vac is also good for corralling the dust bunnies.

Never used a Swiffer, except when at my 'rents in GA. I gave up on it after about 5 minutes.

I live with Mr. Clean and we have a GIANT industrial size mop bucket. It's seriously one of those big yellow ones. That and the new "green works" dilutable cleaner by Clorox are our cleaners of choice. That finally got Mr. OM (AKA Mr. Clean) off the PineSol. Smells great, cleans great and it's inexpensive.

Gadget-wise (or actually not), we keep our floors clean with that, a broom and a vacuum.
