We made exceptions to our no pet rules during Katrina, and are doing it this time as well. We have evacuees, and their bulldog headed to Seacrest this a.m.

If we were in this position we couldn't leave our babies behind. Families need to all be together. Especially now.

I think we need a good activity idea...four boys, ages almost 2, 3, 7, and 10. I think they are bored and little stir crazy.

Maybe take a soccer ball and some sort of visible boundary markers over to Camp WaterColor or Gulf Place, and play soccer, or better yet, KICKBALL!

We have a fabulous 15 year old pug named Rutger here with us as well. He and Patrick the pug used to be friends when we lived in New Orleans. Not so much now. Grumpy old men, they are.

Some of my family from NO are here and staying on the beach...they got here yesterday morning.........they had delayed effect damage (black mold) after Katrina even though their home was not flooded, so I am praying for the best for them. That's got to be tough, especially with two small children!

I have a neice in Franklinton, La....who is not leaving but on high ground. She is with a friends grandmother so I hope she will be okay. Her mother is God knows where????

My neice lived with us and went to school in sowal for 6 months after Katrina...her home was in 14 feet of water (Chalmette) and lost her cat that was left behind. She texted me last night to let me know she was safe but scared. I just want to go get her!!!!

I could learn a lot from the ten year old. I think at my age doing the whole evacuation 3 years after Katrina, when life was finally getting normal, would be too much. He's just taking it right in stride....

I got nothin for you on that front sweetie. I couldn't keep a 2.5 year old entertained for 5 minutes yesterday. I guess you have to ask, wwpkd? (what would princess kate do?) I love watching that one in action. That mind and imagination is always working at warp speed.

Good luck!
