Thanks for sharing, did not realize they would come in that shallow of water. One almost looks beached. I find them fascinating.

I'll watch over you from shore mangy - and wave frantically while making the shark sign with both hands on my head if I see any. ever had that happen while swimming out in the gulf? I have.

Not yet. But, I made that motion to an elderly man cast fishing on a sandbar, which he didn't see. Shark headed straight for him, but lucky for him, the shark wasn't interested. Any who, glad you'll have my back.

Yes, they will and do come right up to the beach in some places. A few months ago, I was watching the sun set, and these guys had been fishing for a while. I saw them pull in one Lady Fish, and released. They left 30 min before sunset. Just as the sun was dropping over the horizon, a shark, about 6-7ft in length, swam right up to the beach where the Lady Fish had been caught. I guess the shark was still smelling the trace of blood or fish.

I've seen a 3-4 ft long baby HammerHead clear the water at Grayton. Freaked all the mothers out, since all the kids and daddies were in the water. I was in the water too, and had no clue if they had seen a Cobia, a small Shark, or a 1000 lb Mako Shark. I certainly didn't race back to shore, as that only freaks the sharks out. I will still run, panicking, from yellow jackets, but for some reason, I am much calmer with the thought of being in the water with a shark.

This is very true, you should simply move slowly toward the beach. Thrashing and splashing will only alert the shark that there is a potentially injured animal in the water and he will move in your direction faster.
