I seem to remember that we tried this several years ago. Use a high quality ziplock bag, maybe even freezer bag. Seems the bags leaked into the pot.

To answer the "why," my best guess is that you can cook, say, 3 or 4 omelets at the same time. And I would not cook eggs, or anything else for that matter, in plastic in the microwave. It releases plasticizers, a know carcinogen, into the food.

We think alike too much of the time! :D and... I really don'think BB would even WANT to attempt this!

We use to do this when we went camping. Very good and easy to make for breakfast with some instant grits.

I thought about this when I first saw my friend cooking it in the microwave, and I think I even mentioned it to her. I think she told me she didn't care....:dunno:

She sounds like my mom. That won't stop her from cooking her daily cheesy egg artery blocking dishes in the microwave. She doesn't care about cancer because she plans to die of a heart attack.

bless her heart. she sounds funn and funny.

we all have our "ways", and some of us do risky things every single day with full knowledge of the risks. I know I do.

regarding the microwave though - I've tried cooking in it and I just do not like the results. I use the microwave to heat up a leftover plate of food, or heat up a cup of cold coffee. but that is it.

I use my microwave just like you do. I prefer to cook on the stove. I have some pretty risky habits myself. I eat pizza because I plan on dying in the car. I have a lead foot according to my Daddy. :D
