Hello and to the same old conversation. I am starting to see where you are coming from, but this would seem more like the closing of a loophole than an actual tax increase, and thus would increase revenue. I'm happy to continue saving $$$ online because the actual shopping process is much easier for me, but at the same time, does this not hurt small local businesses? It seems like it would be a good idea for everyone to level the playing field. When small businesses are forced to close it can be so very bad for the local economy and even the commercial real estate market, as we are learning here in Tampa.

It could hurt local businesses but then again, I am sure that Florida has many internet businesses so it works both ways.

In Georgia, you only pay sales tax on internet purchases if the retailer has a physical location in Georgia. For this reason, I avoid such retailers unless they offer a compelling deal. Talk about hurting local businesses. :shock:

How? Florida does not make one collect tax if the product is going to be shipped out of state. So only if someone in Florida buys from a Florida internet company would they still get the tax. And since a Florida internet company would be at least 6% higher and most people buying online are price shopping, I do not see that happening to any degree.
