I googled animal bites. Apparently even if an animal's vaccinations are current, their saliva contains bacteria that can cause infections. You need to be on an antibiotic. Here is a list of pathogens in a primate's mouth:
  • Bacteroides species
  • Fusobacterium species
  • Eikenella corrodens
  • Streptococcus species
  • Enterococcus species
  • Staphylococcus species
  • Enterobacteriaceae
  • Simian herpes virus

All that's ever bitten me is a bunny rabbit. After you get the antibiotics to make sure your fingers don't fall off, well, you have an amazing story there!! Definitely worth a couple of beers at cocktail hour at the beach.

:yikes:
Aren't monkey brains considered a delicacy somewhere? I love animals, but for some reason monkeys give me the heebeejeebies. Probably because when I was a kid we went to Jungle Habitat in the days of vinyl roof cars. All I remember were monkeys all over our car-- peeling apart the roof and screaming. (Jungle Habitat closed soon after) Bless your heart for not turning it into a dashboard stuffy and feel better.
Japan. They strap them into high chairs and serve the brains while the monkey is still alive.

All that's ever bitten me are poodles. Our two miniatures would accidentally bite me while trying to separate them when they fought because they were jealous of each other. Pepper doesn't like it when I watch Gator games and bit me during the Florida/GA football game.

Spank him, shock him or both. Go to the doctor for sure. The doctor will have to report it to the county health department. The monkey will probably have to be quarantined. The health department is probably going to want to pay the owner a visit and have a look at the monkey. As long has the monkey has had its shots and it's a house monkey then home quarantine may be an option. Anyway that's not your problem.
