Don't blame the illegals or the government - every time you went to Walmart and bought that cheaper thing from China, you sent manufacturing jobs overseas, made US businesses close, and took away decent jobs with benefits.

A large part of their profits are because one of the biggest employers in the US makes the government pick up the tab for health care and the difference between their paycheck and a living wage.

I thought that's what you wanted.......:dunno:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Andy A. I just hope that you got Jeff's permission to post that.
I not only had his permission, I had his blessing and he is right on in his presentation. It is a well written piece by a man who works hard to make his living as do many SoWallers. More power to him and those like him. May the wind always be at his back.

I certainly wouldn't mind some reform, but my tax dollars fueling Walmart's profits while they treat their employees like sheet - not so much!
My son would love to have a job with Walmart. Unfortunately, there are no jobs available with them in his area. Even more unfortunate is the fact he has never learned how to "work" the system in regard to unemployment and welfare. He, probably still unfortunately, has always sought to work. Any kind of work. BTW, SB44, I think your knocking of Walmart is ludicrous and without merit. But that is my opinion and you, as you always do, are entitled to yours.

Have you ever worked for Wal-Mart? I did for 2 hellish months. I was told with a straight face and all seriousness that it was better to apply for Medicare than to pay for their worthless insurance. With the starting pay I would qualify. If you watch the Wal-Mart propaganda showing Sam in his old beat up pick up truck then yes it all sounds wonderful. In fact Sam Walton was at best a con artist. His "Made in America" campaign was nothing more than marketing. IIRC he bought a couple of truck loads of shirts one time from an American company. Otherwise he was dumping money into the Chinese economy by the smiley bag full.

This weekend we went to the Wal-Mart in PCB. I haven't felt that dirty in quite some time. We have been able to go without Wal-Mart for well over a year. Everything we used to purchase at Wal-Mart can be found right here on 30A. Granted it may cost a little more, but the money stays here. Wal-Mart doesn't help people save money, it bilkes them for every last penny while giving the false illusion of providing a quality of life.

Walmart is giving the public what they want, items cheaper! It is time to break the cycle.....companies go to foreign companies to get things made...Americans buy the stuff.....companies go back to those companies ..etc.....etc ..etc ...etc!! We all like a bargain, but we are paying a bigger price due to our bargain hunting! It is not only Walmart...check out any store with inexpensive items..99 out off 100 items will be foreign made! I am the age that remembers when people thought "made in China" was junk....not much better now! BTW, people have worked for Walmart for years.....and for many of those years, the employees had the opportunity to go work someplace else if they didn't like the treatment!

I'm just curious, where can you find All American made things on 30A???? Most items that I have seen anywhere, not just Walmart are still not made in the USA! The stores on 30A maybe keeping some money here, but still buying foreign made products! I'm not saying I love Walmart..I don't..hardly ever go there, but Walmart is not the only problem!!! If the people didn't buy, they wouldn't sell!

What makes a job at Walmart appealing to your son? I would REALLY like to know because they certainly are not at the upper end of the pay scale, don't offer benefits, and go out of their way to keep you from working full time.

My dislike of Walmart is based on their business practices, their treatment of staff, the quality of their products, and the amount of tax dollars that they as a company cost us all by "working the system." There are many other less quantifiable reasons why I dislike them, but as far as those listed above I am on very solid and well supported ground.

Wal mart will be bailing out the government before it's over with... The Last one standing... and they'll have government offices in every town with a line miles long of people waiting for their weekly rations.
That's my prediction.
