American Idol Voting Party at the Red Bar Tonight!

Good Morning!

Oli has graciously agreed to let us have part of the back room tonight to hang out and watch American Idol. I am organizing this to help get Matt Giraud votes.

Matt Giraud, the dueling piano player, is from my hometown in Michigan. I met his dad two weeks ago and he said that they had been to the Destin area before. I would love to get him down here to perform and visit the Red Bar.

Matt is 1/4 African American and grew up singing Gospel in a large church outside of Detroit. He has many musical influences, ranging from Kirk Franklin, Ray Charles, John Legend, Coldplay, the Fray and Alicia Keyes. He has been compared to Michael Buble and Justin Timberlake.

Last week he sang "Let's Get It On" and Smokey Robinson said Matt did Marvin proud. The studio audience gave him a standing ovation, the judges loved his peformance but he still ended up in the bottom two vote getters.

If he can get in the top 3, American Idol will go to Michigan and do a huge homecoming party for him.

If you can't come, please watch the show tonight and vote for Matt!

We are meeting at 6:45 and the show goes until 8:30 I believe. Voting will start at that time and go until 10:30.

Please bring fully charged cell phones. Oli said there are a few plugs in case you need to plug in.

PS. I was just giving a little info on his background that many people do not know. If you watch AI, there hasn't been much focus on his background - his wife hasn't passed away (he has none), he is not blind, he wasn't involved in a tornado, he isn't a newlywed with matching aprons, does not caw, nor a broadway star. He basically is a struggling musician with intense piano skills and a mean falsetto.

Sure! But I would ask you if your favorite is NEVER GOING HOME ie: the one who is out miles ahead of everyone else, then maybe you could slide a few votes Matt's way?

Seriously, unless Scott or Caw Caw is your favorite, which I liked her Patsy Cline performance, they are the ones I think the votes will be close with Matt. Each week he stays, I get new music!
