This shouldn't be surprising based on the fact that the bottom 50% of income earners pay about 3% of the taxes. For them, socialism is better.

Who Pays Income Taxes? See Who Pays What

Your website failed to show that there were about 1.35 M tax returns in the top 1% while there were 67.8 M returns from the bottom 50%. In the interest of full disclosure I'm sure you would want this fact revealed. You wouldn't want anyone to thing you were a wingnut, would you?

That just reinforces 6thGen's point. 6.7 million returns representing 61% of all federal revenue while 68 million returns represents 3%? Those 68 million are getting a pretty good deal don't you think? Especially considering that the top 5% are restricted from enjoying many of the benefits.

What's really excruciating is listening to politicians like Obama run around proclaiming these folks don't pay their fair share. They pay it and then some. The poor aren't exploited by the rich in the country, it's the other way around.

Yeah, everytime I hear "they should pay their fair share", I reach for my AK....

It is interesting to note that the top fifty percent pay more under Bush than Clinton and the bottom fifty percent pay less under Bush.

No doubt due to the "Bush tax cuts for rich" that applied to lower incomes - the same reductions off Clinton era tax rates that Obama decided to keep.

I think this "United States: 44.7% (2009)" [Traderx post - showing socialism measured via GDP] is uncannily close to this "Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism." [dsgevier's original post]. Yikes~~~~~~~

Take back less than principal on a long term retirement ponzi scheme?? I'd raise my right hand but it's too busy signing checks to the IRS. Lets hope most of us get something back, but it's doubtful considering the managers of the plan spent every dime we invested on their pet projects. Are you familiar with Bernie Madoff? The liberals in Washington are giggling at his numbers.
