It was a Krugman column. You may not agree with everything he says but he surely has earned the right to say it, more than anyone who posts here or the vast majority of people in this country. (I disagree with him on some things, but on others he scarily speaks the truth.)

krugman is a talking head for the left. the end.
few economists even respect him anymore he lacks objectivity.

I think it's great that so many people got involved - I think it's sad that so many people got inspired and got together, yet didn't put their time and energy to better use. Where are the "tea party" petitions? What is their goal? What are their suggestions for reducing taxation and spending?

There are so many ways to make your voice heard in constructive ways - I wish people would do so! I get so frustrated by people who complain, but don't do anything, and it seemed that the "Tea parties" exemplified that.

There is no goal to the "Teabagicans," it is simpy a microscsm of the current state of the Republican Party-- the "No" party, an out-of ideas Klatch fronted by an array of very scattered politicians--D.C. or the TV ones (Newt, Steele, Rush Sarah, Eric "The Mortician"Cantor, Hannity (comedian), John Beynar and so on ...The Teabagicans are equally scatted-- and are equal part anti Obama red necks, anti-Socialist naysayers, "End the Fedites", anti gun control, flat tax (a great idea, actually)--but, alas, no focus whatsoever, no theme, no sense to it--laughable really..and sad. 2010 is going to be another"shoe" in for the Dems, and not really because THEY will have it together by then either, but look at the alternative!!

"TEA"-dious.... angry white, middle class John McCain and Ron Paul supporters.. quick to carry a banner to complaining about socialism, but not willing tear up their "socialist" Medicare and Social Security Cards.

A great theme party though, if you would even go to one invited by Fox/Newt and Company.

Can't define it here, but does anyone know the "other" meaning of "teabagging"...I laugh when I hear it used.:rotfl:

Texas-it's a whole other country. :D

Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up an anti-tax "tea party" Wednesday with his stance against the federal government and for states' rights as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, "Secede!"

An animated Perry told the crowd at Austin City Hall -- one of three tea parties he was attending across the state -- that officials in Washington have abandoned the country's founding principles of limited government. He said the federal government is strangling Americans with taxation, spending and debt.

Perry repeated his running theme that Texas' economy is in relatively good shape compared with other states and with the "federal budget mess." Many in the crowd held signs deriding President Barack Obama and the $786 billion federal economic stimulus package.

How about a sincere concern for the mess we are leaving our children with due to years and years of overspending? The scheme is how a dozen Presidents from both parties have overspent and run up trillions in debt.

I agree with you; however, this might have become a case of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf.'

I've been hearing this sympathetic argument since I was a child and I am now carrying this debt........and, on the cycle spins! ;-)

But, I am also now confused as I am not clear as to what the Tea Parties were/are about? Anti-Obama? Anti over-spending? :dunno::dunno:

He is blowing smoke. He is running for re-election in 2010 (and could easily lose) to Kay Bailey Hutchenson a very smart and effective Repubulican who has not mention the succession of Texas--he's just shoring up the extreme right wing base in Texas (yee-haw), same old story...........people, that is all politician do in D.C., worry just about the next election--throw them out!
