On Tuesday. April 21, 2009 at around 12:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff?s Office received a call in reference to a missing child in the Vernon area. Damion Brown, 6 year old black male, was last seen on April 21st at around 7:30 a.m. at his home on Alto Circle in Vernon, FL waiting to get on the school bus. Damion was last seen wearing a long sleeve blue Henly skateboard shirt with a yellow undershirt and brown Reebok shoes.
Within minutes of receiving the initial call, officers were dispatched and arrived on scene. An extensive and coordinated search effort was initiated with the assistance of several neighboring agencies as well as K-9 units from Northwest Florida Regional Reception Center, Bay County Sheriff?s Office Helicopter Search, Florida Wildlife and Game Commission, and Florida Highway Patrol. These agencies, as well as the Washington County Sheriff?s Office are in the area at the time.
