It isn't an effigy that I would want on my license plate, and at first it seemed shocking, but after some thought I do not see the difference between someone putting that on their vehicle as opposed to hanging a cross over their doorways at home or putting a Mary on the Half Shell on their lawns. The symbolism is to depict a sign of protection and/or honoring the sacrifice Christ made. Placing these symbols outside of houses of worship could also be considered banal and utilitarian, however they may bring comfort to the people who do display them or devotion to their spiritual choices.

So. . . . if someone with one of these cuts you off in traffic and you yell "Jesus!!" you would be a tad more accurate in your response. Reminds me of an old joke that made the email rounds awhile back:

A police officer pulled a driver aside and asked for his license and registration.

"What's wrong, officer?" the driver asked. "I didn't go through any red lights, and I certainly wasn't speeding."

"No, you weren't," said the officer, "but I saw you waving your fist as you swerved around the lady driving in the left lane, and I further observed your flushed and angry face as you shouted at the driver of the Hummer who cut you off, and how you pounded your steering wheel when the traffic came to a stop near the bridge."

"Is that a crime, officer?"

"No, but when I saw the 'Jesus loves you and so do I' bumper sticker on the car, I figured this car had to be stolen."

I think the question as to what non-profit the extra money from these sales goes to is a very good one. If I purchase one will I be making a donation to the Catholic Church or to pro-life literature or to United Church of Christ or to Southern Baptist and do all the fringe religions get a cut. How does this work?

If we're going do start having lawn statue figures on our license plates we should be able to get the pink flamingo or the digging dog IMO.

Geo, I wonder what would happen if Christians made jokes about Allah or the Messiah (Hebrew), yet to come. Freedom of Speech is a good thing, no?

This all makes perfect sense. Just about everyone who will purchase this plate is likely a defender of government sponsored torture so why not display a man being tortured on your vehicle.
