Happy news!

Oh, happy day! Remember my stories about my crazy, bait-peddling, drug-pushing neighbors?

I think the stories are over!

The house has been quiet and dark for about 2 weeks. (We noticed the grass was getting high, but my neighbors have never been all that hung up on appearances.) My dad (who lives on the other side of me) finally had to know what was going on, and went to the neighbor who lives behind the crack house. Nice neighbor said that the sheriff came out and towed the gigantic fishing boat away a week or so ago. The deputies asked my nice neighbor if he'd seen the crack house's brand new truck--they (the sheriff's dept.) were looking for it. Nice neighbor said that he thinks nasty neighbors have been moving out late at night.

So. If any of you are looking for a recently vacated meth lab in North Georgia, I know where one is available! :clap:

p.s. Before the exodus, the crack house pit bull bit my nice neighbor. White trash neighbor (who really is very friendly) taped a hundred-dollar bill to his front door. Wasn't that sweet?

How do you change the title of a thread?

Remember my random rant about bizarre bad news? This needs to become a thread about completely unexpected good news.

First the neighbors disappeared.

Then I get a phone call out of the clear blue nowhere tonight. One of my best friends from my youth just got some good news. By "best friends," I mean that our older brothers, who were also best friends, called us "counterparts." When I am in public with him and his wife, she introduces me to other people as her husband's soul mate. He's so much like me that we almost irritate each other--not so much like a brother as a goofy cousin that grew up next door.

Anyway, he is also a high school teacher. He used to teach at my school years ago, which is when I first fell in love with the place. He teaches at a big private school in Atlanta, but his contract was not renewed this year. He talked to my principal about coming back, but we're not hiring. (No one is hiring!) After he talked to my principal, his principal gave him a contract. He said that it was pretty awkward: "We really don't want you, but we'll let you stick around another year..."

So. His wife just called me to tell me that he got a call (top secret!) from MY school this evening. One of our teachers is getting moved up, and they need a new teacher in his department!
:clap_1::clap_1::clap_1::clap_1::clap_1:

(Like I said, top secret. For the two of you who know my superhero identity, you can't breathe a word of this to Metropolis Academy.)

The bad news: I don't think I'll get any work done next year.

Congrats on losing the crack head neighbors. Maybe they just couldn't make a living peddling meth?

You know that I can't keep up the supply with all the middle schools around here!
