Wireless charges - OMG!!

I have 3 cell phones on my plan - mine, Jr. Critter & MIL (who uses about 10 minutes a month). With PDA plan for my phone (which I use mainly for emailing) and unlimited texting (for Jr., who knows no other way to communicate), misc. taxes and fees, base plan grows from $100 to about $220/month. Ouch!

Anyone know of better plans out there? And by better, of course I mean more affordable and with consistent service.

I have Sprint Everything Unlimited (PDA). Just paid it and it runs about $120/mo. But that's just one line.

Isn't it Verizon that has the family plan? Maybe that's what the Critter family needs. Good luck!!

Sweet LBJ! I thought $40 a month for my cell phone was $$$.

How much can you save if Jr. only texts 250 or 500 times a month?

Well, we have Alltel with my Blackberry and my wife and daughter each have txters. We share 3K mins a month and have 25 my circle friends. We never go over or really even near our minutes but we txt like crazy. Ours is 220 a month. Haven't found better so far.

We're working on the job thing, but you'd be surprised how tough it is for a not-yet-16-year-old to find a summer job, espcially when "summer" runs mid-June to mid-August. And his texts number well below 500 per month. It's just that you get something like 10 texts w/o the "unlimited" plan, then the per text charge would eat you alive.

Lynnie, now that you mention it, I do remember seeing something unlimited from Verizon. Any local Verizon subscribers want to chime in?

Yeah, at that age I could only do agricultural labor or babysitting/yard work. And getting them to the job is a pain too.

The reason I asked about the number of texts is that I was able to add 250 texts per month to the uber basic plan for $5 w/ Verizon. (It's 10 cents each beyond that.)

Sorry I have no suggestion for a better plan but do you feel your pain, it is the one bill my hubbie nearly strokes over, each and every month.

There's an app for that, but only through AT&T.
My plan with them was around $130/mo. if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I figured as much. My Verizon contract ends in August. So until then, I'm saving money!
