This is not ridicule of anyone's faith, it's a sincere critique of faith in general. I just find it funny that conservatives consider themselves to be bastions of reason and yet they rely so heavily on faith. Don't you consider that odd? It's certainly contradictory. It doesn't leave them much room to criticize empathetic liberals for thinking with their hearts instead of their minds. What gives?![]()
One problem with this discussion might be that we are talking about oranges and apples. There are religious "conservatives" ie: Mormons, Catholics, Evangelicals and there are "liberals" Episcopal, Methodist,Unitarians.
There are Moral "conservatives" anti abortion, anti gay, anti drug, anti drinking, anti pornography and their are moral "liberals" basically all the pros.
And finally, there are political "conservatives" less government, less taxes, strong national defense and political "liberals" pro government, pro higher taxes and less national defense.
There are many people who move between conservative and liberal depending on what the topic is. While many posts in this discussion tend to lump all religious people as "conservative" that is certainly not the case. And many political "conservatives" are not religious. Many political "conservatives" are decidedly liberal about moral issues ( Libertarians) As a country we cannot even get all conservatives in one political party and all liberals in the other, so everyone needs to be careful with the labeling.

Dark side-ED!
