Ditto for me on Goatfeathers in Seagrove. We go there every time we're in Sowal and have never gotten any bad shrimps.

------------------
I've been to goatfeathers in seagrove probably six or seven times a year for the last 7 or 8 years. I'm delighted when on vacation to have the convenience of a fairly good fish market, that I can walk or ride the bike to. On top of that, they almost always have a good assortment of fresh fish, in good condition. They usually have shrimp in three sizes that they'll steam and season for you if you'd like.

I find the fish on the high end of the price range, and am almost at my breaking point of searching out a better local deal (ie. maybe Shrimpers), but Publix is not an option unless you like your fish/shrimp farmed and color added.
I find the shrimp reasonably priced.

I find the service to be a quite interesting trip - the best way I can describe it is like hostile and exhausted yankees are serving me, in a southern accent- maybe I'm off base, but that's how I feel - I've seen it (service) be both borderline, and outright hostile for others (not me) and I've felt like I was going to be told "no soup for you" from time to time - It's funny stuff, and so far I've just chalked it up to that person behind the counter must be really frustrated about something, and is very tired of vacationers (like me).

The last time I was down a couple weeks ago, I only went once, because the deals at the restaurants were so outrageous (at paradis, cafe 30a etc. for half priced dinners) that I don't think we could afford to buy from goatfeathers and cook grouper for the same price -

When we stay on east end of 30A we drive into Buddy's in Panama City. Been getting fish and shrimp from them for years. They do a great job on steaming. Worth the drive.

looking for a good place for steamed shrimp on my next trip. My PC days are long over. Is it anywhere near the Hangout:dunno: If you could get me headed in the right direction, my husband could find it and I sure would appreciate it:D

Try Goatfeathers below the restaurant on 30A. You buy the shrimp at the seafood shop, ask them to season and steam them for you and the price is really reasonable. They are to die for! I really hate to give up this local's secret but since it isn't classified and too good to keep, I guess I'll just have to do it.

So with all this talk of shrimp I decided to have some for dinner. Did a bit of Googling and came up with the following.

Marinated (for 1 hour) peeled, deveined shimp (with tail still on) in following:

Olive oil
Honey
grated fresh ginger
grated fresh garlic
splash of soy sauce
(and a bit of pepper flakes if you like a little heat)
-------------------
Drained marinate and dusted shimp with flour (seasoned with salt & pepper)
----------------
Dipped in egg wash
-----------------
Coated with mix of Panko/Dried Bread Crumbs (3-1 mix)
----------------
Heated up oil in fry pan. (Heated up oven to 300)
(I don't like deep frying shrimp since it uses too much oil that can't be re-used)
----------------------------
Fried shimp in batches (first on one side, then turn to the other) till crisp and golden--takes less than a minute on each side for Med/Lg shrimp. Drained on paper towel-covered cake rack placed on baking tray--kept in oven while others were cooking.
--------------------------
Served with Thai-style Sweet Chili Sauce.
-------------------------
Fabulous!
