Right here!
Exactly what did I post that contradicts any of my other posts about the topic?

My views and values didn't change, just your perceptions and preconceived notions about them.

I always question vague articles or posts that accuse w/o evidence.

I've never had a problem w/ killing known terrorists or recognizing that collateral damage is a reality of war. And using drones instead of putting our military personnel in harm's way is a gret way of doing it IMO.

I was needling Bob, Scooter, not you. :D

Right here!
Nice list but in complete:

60+- Blackhawk War / Jackson (D)
1500- Second Siminole / Jackson (D) Van Buren (D)
13283-Mexican American / Polk (D)
26-3rd Seminole War / Pierce (D) Buchanan (D)
625,000- Civil war / Lincoln (R)
919- Indian Wars / lasted 33 yr. 6 of 9 POTUS (R)
3- Korean expedition / Grant (R)
2446- Spanish-American / McKinley (R)
4196- Philipine-American / Mckinley (R) Roosevelt (R) Taft (R)
37- Boxer Rebellion / McKinley (R)
35- Mexican Revolution / Wilson (D)
146- Occupation of Haiti / Wilson (D) Harding (R) Coolidge (R) Hoover (R)
Roosevelt (D)

Don't cheat these guys out of their fair share of the count. Why did you conveniently leave out Lincoln?

That was a nice late minute edit. :D I skipped the smaller conflicts and didn't include the civil war as I don't feel it fits within this "length contest". The civil war was an internal struggle rather than an external war of aggression. Also, by today's standards Lincoln would have a (D) to the right of his name so maybe it's in your party's best interests not to bring it up. :D

Even if you include it, the D's are still responsible for more deaths in war than the R's. (You people love this stuff, when you feel it's justified.) From the numbers of dead and the number of wars, clearly the democratic party has felt justified far more often than the Republicans. That's no surprise really since the Republican Party has historically been more isolationist, while the democrats seem to feel they have the right to enforce their view upon the world. Evidence of that is pretty clear in everything your party does, which is something we should all be wary about.

Good idea. I think it is inane to compare the political affiliation of the President at times of war in any case.

I agree 100%

It's not my party, I refuse to join any party and you can't start switching D's and R's, thats the job of FOX news (Foley, Sanford).
I only responded to your post because I think it's a silly argument and I know you didn't start it but let's give credit to both sides where it's due. Winnie has it right, it's inane to compare the political affilation of Presidents and wars.

That is a very interesting statement. My father was a Republican, he was also a recipient of 2 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. Fought in WWI (injured in Philippines) and also injured in Korea. He was an Airborne Ranger.

When the Iraq war started (and he voted for Bush) he was very very troubled. He hated war.

Your father and I have a lot in common, I thank him for his service to our country. My father also served in the army in WWII and Korea.

I agree with this - I am not affiliated with ANY party so I feel I can be objective when it comes to several of the threads going on at this time. I wish I could take a news story that let's say was something ghastly done by one party YET, change it around to be done by the OTHER party. Let's see if people are still divided on party lines. I believe that the result would be a sad comment.

Thanks for your dad's service too!

The Civil War was a war among ourselves - a Revolution, not a war against another country. I am certainly not discrediting the number of lives lost as this is the deadliest of wars the United States has fought; however, Lincoln did not lead us into this war. Southern States seceeded from the USA regarding issues of States Rights.

All who ever served and, particularly those who have been in combat, do. That having been said, Poppy's take that all wars are possible to prevent, flies in the face of human nature if nothing else. Additionally, some have been necessary to preserve both our freedom and way of life.

You are correct and, unfortunately, we still haven't solved the problem of "States Rights". Just another issue Congress and the Supreme Court refuses to properly address.

Good grief Andy, I can't believe I'm getting back into this discussion but I will make one last comment on my belief about war. I've never said my view is right or anyone else's is wrong it's just my opinion ok. I believe all wars are preventable if both sides will just give a little, there has to be a common ground somewhere to prevent the death and destruction brought on by war. You say preventing war flies in the face of human nature, well I hope you are wrong. I hold out hope that someday civilization will advance just enough to realize we are not all the same and never will be, that being different in color, religion, language, customs, sexuality and nationality is what makes our world so interesting. We don't have to agree on everything but we don't have to fight over it either. This is one reason I purchased the Florida John Lennon license plate, It may never happen but just imagine.
