Fair point and powerful visual. To be fair I would enjoy seeing the same visual applied to previous administrations and their fiscal policies...

Your point is well taken but it is now not 4 years ago, 8 years ago or further back. We continue, as you and I agree, failed fiscal policies of the past and even increase their effects on our economy. I heard Eleanor Shiff on "Mc Loughlan" yesterday say, and I admittedly am paraphrasing, we have spent our way out of recession before and we can do it again. This from someone who is a lead editor of a major news magazine, Newsweek. With the news media pushing this kind of solution to our fiscal problems, is it any wonder our economy is in a mess? I am not, in any manner, defending the previous administration's spending policies, though I blame Congress for most of it. Bush should have used his veto pen and often but he didn't. At this point in time we are being totally fiscally irresponsible, IMO. If we don't change it will come back to haunt us.

I don't disagree with what you said. But I do want to clarify. It isn't my intention that we go back and rehash economic failures of George Bush or other previous administrations. We should be in the here and now and forward thinking- yes. BUT- it gets my goat when (mostly) Repubs are coming out of the woodwork and making partisan points about spending as if this is brand new behavior monopolized by Obama.

I basically agree with what you are saying, however, while it is not "new" behavior by Obama it IS monopolized by Obama and the House of Representatives, which as you are aware is the engine for all spending and appropriation bills. To continue down the same path is,IMO, ludicrous.

Right here!
All one has to do is look at the growth of debt today to see what's going on. Of course, as has been rehashed a thousand times on this board, at this point, Obama supporters simply say that it's needed to combat the financial downturn. So for now they have their excuse. That however wont be the case once we are clearly past the deadline for economic recovery projected by the White House. The excess will be quite clear to the American people in a short while. My guess is it'll be a major issue in the mid terms. It should be interesting hearing all the excuses the dems come up with in order to get re-elected.. and those excuses will no doubt pale in comparison to the excuses Obama will be coming up with in three and half years.

Geo, if you want to see how much money Obama is currently borrowing, just visit the treasury direct site. We are about billion or so away from one trillion in new debt accumulated since Obama took office.

I've seen it...
It is a continuation of what we have seen.

Find the one comparing spending to driving a car. Bush was 66 or so miles per hour and Obama is 178 or so miles per hour.

I find it curious that every Repub I speak with was against all the govt spending under Bush's 8 years. It is shocking to me that Bush got away with all that spending when his entire base was against it.

This apparent contradiction between rhetoric and actual behavior is not lost on most of America. Combine the above contradiction with the utter vacuum of ideas from Republicans as to what to do about the mess they created and one can see why they are in such disarray.

Fear not though as the pendulum always swing back sooner or later. Please remember your cut Gov't spending mantra when you are back in the majority.
